How did all of this come to be? Many years ago, two young adults developed a desire to raise their family in the country, on a farm. The young couple, Marvin and Tammy, were blessed with the opportunity to purchase the old Howard homeplace from family members. The land had been in Marvin's family for over 100 years.
As their family began to grow with three children interested in all sorts of animals, the need for a large working barn became a necessity. The barn has housed horses, cows, bottle-fed calves, and occasionally chickens, dogs, and cats. The barn has served as a home for the animals and a place to store hay and farm equipment. Why River Ridge? |
The area of the Howard family barn and homeplace is located on Ridge Road in Lancing, TN. It runs parallel with the Obed River, and situated within minutes of the Lilly Bluff Access and Overlook area. The family wanted a name for the venue barn that emphasized the beauty of the land and it's surroundings.

The Vision |
River Ridge Barn's purpose is to offer an opportunity for others to bask in the beauty of God's creations of mountains, river, fields, trees, and flowers while celebrating their special occasion. The barn could be the perfect place for a wedding and reception, birthday party, reunion, family or business gathering, church function, school groups, and so much more. River Ridge Barn will offer enough space for up to 200 people, be equipped with restrooms, a kitchen and serving area, a bridal chamber, presentation screen and projector, fire pit, tables, and chairs, and will offer many photo ops with breathtaking scenery.
